Referring to the announcement of the time and date of the upcoming continental Olympic qualification, the head coach of the Iran national rowing team (Mr. Afshin Farzam) mentioned: we have a limited period of time and we should resume our conditioning programs in the long-distance regatta course. Also, he mentioned that the hosting of Japan for the upcoming Olympic qualification was predictable.
He continued Japan was looking for the development of double boats aiming to participate in the Olympics. This event hasn’t been taken place in any previous championships and the upcoming situation is a good chance for hosting the event.
Farzan said, Tokyo regatta course take place in the sea and the waves will create a challenge for the participants.
He mentioned, according to the COVID-19 situation and policies of the countries, it is plausible to quarantine the participants for two weeks prior to the regatta. If such, the quarantine will affect our preparatory programs before the event.
Farzam said the upcoming World Cup in Swiss which is the last event to get qualified for the Olympics would be held one week after the continental qualification and in case of getting qualified in continental event, the World Cup will be a good chance to enhance our experience before the Olympics.
Referring to Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan as the main rivals of our team, Farzam mentioned that all athletes are working as hard as possible to get successes in the upcoming event and the results of the event are unforeseen.
